Three More Reasons to Make Your Family’s Vehicle a Volvo

If you’re part of a family with young children, you’re probably very familiar with the frustrations that come along with child safety seats. Either they’re difficult to install, uncomfortable for children, or you can’t get your kids to stay in them. Well, Volvo is hoping to solve that problem, at least in part. The Swedish automaker has just announced a new line of child safety seats, developed in collaboration with Britax-Römer, one of the world’s leading child seat makers. Take a look at the video below for some more information.

Volvo’s new line of seats was designed to be more comfortable for children, made with a more breathable upholstery material comprised of 80% wool textile, so the seats are smooth, very durable, and perform better in both hot and cold climates. Hopefully the added comfort will encourage children to use the proper seat until they grow into a regular seat. The seats are also slimmer, with a design aimed at maximizing comfort and legroom.

The three seats that will be offered can accommodate children of various ages and sizes:

  • Infant Seat: reward-facing, suitable for children up to 13 kilograms (about 28 pounds) or 1 year of age.
  • Child Seat: reward-facing, suitable for children 9 months up to 6 years of age.
  • Booster Seat: forward-facing, suitable for children who have outgrown the reward-facing seats, ages 3 up to 10 years.

“We understand that many people find child safety in cars a complex and sometimes confusing subject. We have focused for many years on communicating clear guidelines around how child seats should be used and the correct way to install them. We believe that children will be more comfortable in our rearward-facing new seat and that this will encourage parents to keep their children rearward-facing for longer. This will have a direct impact on overall child safety and support our Vision 2020, where no one will be killed or seriously injured in a Volvo car by the year 2020.” – Lotta Jakobsson, Adjunct Professor, PhD and Senior Technical Leader, Injury Prevention at Volvo Cars Safety Centre

For any shoppers in the larger Ridgewood, NJ area with safety on the brain, the child safety seats from Volvo will become available to select markets at the beginning of June, so you can come on into Paul’s Volvo or give us a call at (877) 750-4156 to see how you can order one for yourself.
