Volvo Showcases Steering with Hamster-Driven Truck

Making vehicles that are easy to drive are a priority for Volvo. That includes the cars here in our Hawthorne, NJ showroom, and the commercial trucks the automaker builds, as well. To show how easy the trucks are, Volvo decided to let a hamster drive it.

Yes, you read that right. A hamster. Building a makeshift hamster wheel, they placed it over the steering wheel of a 15-ton truck. Oh, did we mention it was uphill, in a quarry, with sheer cliffs off of each side?

The little rodent was aided by a human, who guided it with a carrot so it would walk in the right direction. As cute as that might be, it still created some intense drama, as there were a few moments where things looked like they could go wrong, but didn't.

It all just goes to show you that with the dynamic steering option on Volvo trucks, drivers will get a responsive and intuitive system that should make everyone feel safe and secure. To see the hamster in action, check out the video the automaker put together at

After that, come see safety, confidence, and luxury here at Paul's Volvo in the form of one of our new Volvo models. We have a diverse collection ranging from the S60 to XC90, and our team would be happy to provide you with all the necessary details, answer any questions you might have, and set up test drives.
