Growing Sales in China Improves Volvo's Global Outlook

Here at Paul's Volvo we know that monthly sales of new Volvo vehicles in the U.S. tends to be our focus when we report on how well the brand is performing. This time we decided to turn the tables and take a look at how Volvo has performed globally during September.

While U.S. sales of new Volvos hit a bit of a speed bump last month, world-wide sales we more than promising. Sales grew 13.5 percent in September as Volvo moved a total of 40,952 new cars from dealership inventories to the homes of very satisfied customers.

China is quickly becoming one of the most important markets for Volvo as 5,719 retail sales were made there last month which marks a 48.6 percent increase compared to the September of last year. The legendary Volvo XC60 performed exceptionally well, selling a total of 2,482 new vehicles in China alone.

Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars, Alain Visser, spoke about the promising sales numbers, saying, "We are very satisfied with the positive reception of our new products that are now reaching dealerships globally. We are confident that we are on the right track with our global transformation strategy."1
